Better everyday consumption for a greener future!
Responsible consumption has become a priority for many of us. Eating healthily, buying ethically, focusing on local and short-distance produce, getting closer to small-scale producers, fighting against waste, recycling old clothes... These are now all part of a better way of consuming. We're at the heart of responsible consumption.
In this article, you'll discover a few tips on how to consume better, and all you need to know about the impact of responsible consumption on the environment and our health.
WHY ADOPT MORE RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR?
Each of us has our own reasons for consuming more responsiblyand its own beliefs and consumer habits.Consume less but betterit's okay...
- For our health, ethical consumption with simpler products and formulas means protecting ourselves and our bodies from all the toxic ingredients we may find in food, cosmetics or household products.
- For our planet, responsible consumption contributes to its preservation and sustainability by consuming ecological products that respect the environment.
HOW TO CONSUME IN AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE WAY, AND WHAT GESTURES TO ADOPT?
BUY GREEN
Have you ever asked yourself: "Do I really need this product(s)?", "Can I find this item second-hand or rent it? After all, over-consumption can happen very quickly. Yet there are many small steps you can take to promote ethical and sustainable consumption.
As soon as possible, avoid disposable products such as wipes, bags or plastic containers. Instead, use reusable, washable cotton pads to remove make-up, insulated flasks to carry liquids instead of bottled water, and wooden straws, for example. Why use a product just once when we can recycle it and help reduce waste?
Choose natural products or those bearing an environmental label. The formulas of natural cosmetics known as "Clean Beauty" are much healthier and banish many elements that are harmful both to the environment and to your skin, such as petrochemicals that are not very biodegradable and are sensitive to health. Turn to products that use natural raw materials, essential oils and active plant ingredients. They're better for both your skin and the environment.
Choose products with littlepackaging. Don't hesitate to buy in bulk in specialized grocery stores or in bulk soap bars (available in our boutiques Panier des Sens), then place your food and liquids in glass jars. This will not only reduce the number of containers you use at home, but also the amount of packaging in your garbage can, which has doubled in volume in 40 years. Give preference to recyclable packaging and solid containers whenever possible, such as soaps, toothpaste, deodorant and hygiene products.
Favour local producers and products such as seasonal fruit and vegetables. As well as often costing less, local produce is fresher and tastes better, and you're promoting short-distance transport (less transport, lessenergy consumption!)
Make your own products rather than buying them. Nowadays, it's possible to make almost everything we use on a daily basis yourself: washing powder, shampoo, deodorant, household products, and so on. REDUCE WASTE
Acting responsibly means taking care to reduce waste and make the best possible use of what we buy. The aim? To limit pollution and make our goods last as long as possible.
To achieve this, it's important to read instructions correctly, so as to respect conditions of use as closely as possible, limit harmful substances (waves, for example), and maintain them to optimize their lifespan.
Respect doses to avoid excessive consumption (cleaning products, cosmetics, etc.).
Don't leave your multimedia devices on when they're not in use, remember to turn off the lights when you're not in the room, and avoid leaving the water running when you don't have to.
Reduce food waste by keeping an eye on expiration dates, cooking leftovers, not wasting and making sure you don't buy back something you already have in your cupboards whenever possible. Have you ever thought of using your radish tops? It's sometimes hard to imagine that they're edible... But they're an asset to your health and nutrition, as they contain vitamins and calcium if eaten raw.
DON'T THROW AWAY, RECYCLE!
It's important to know that a product you used to like can be enjoyed again by someone else (#newlife). So think about second-hand sales like Vinted or Leboncoin, for example, to resell your clothes, cosmetics you have several of or have never used, your children's toys or shoes you no longer like.
Donate objects you no longer want, they may have a second life elsewhere (associations, recycling centers, resale sites, etc.).
Make room for recycling in your consumption patterns!

The benefits?
- We preserve resources and limit the use of fossil fuels!
- Aluminium is an effective barrier to the preservation of raw materials. Thanks to it, we reduce the need for preservatives in our product formulas.
- Aluminium is infinitely recyclable. With this packaging, we're helping to reduce the amount of waste thrown away every year.
- Recycling aluminium requires 95% less energy than producing primary aluminium.
Responsible consumers take three main steps:
Better purchasing (less but better),
Better consumption (fight against food waste, sustainable consumption),
Better disposal (remember to recycle before throwing away).
Panier des Sens places responsible consumption at the heart of its commitments.
Together, we can make a difference!
