Eco-responsible actions: how can we protect our planet at our own level?

On June 5, we celebrated World Environment Day. On this day, but also every day of the year, it's essential to take care of our Planet and adopt the right gestures to protect our environment. Together, we're going to look at how we can take action on a daily basis through simple, but effective, eco-responsible gestures.

Reduce waste

We don't realize it, but we waste a lot every day, in many areas: food, cosmetics, clothes, electricity, water, etc. Yet there are many ways to limit this waste, and encourage recycling. Yet there are many ways of limiting this waste, and encouraging recycling.

When it comes to food, avoid overfilling your plates if you don't have the appetite to finish everything. Use glass tupperware to store leftovers. There are also many ways to limit waste, such as cooking with vegetable or fruit peelings with Chef Simon, or taking part in solidarity actions like the Frigos Solidaires. Don't throw away, share!

For clothes, there are several resale sites. You can also donate to associations. There are many relays at your disposal. You don't like a piece of clothing anymore, or it's become too small or too big for you or your children? Don't throw it away, give it to someone else who'll be delighted to give it a new life! And why not buy second-hand too? You can find wonderful little vintage or brand new nuggets.

For cosmetics, there's no longer any need to buy full-size products on vacation and throw them away half-filled before getting back on the plane. There are smaller sizes of your favorite cosmetics brands, easy to take everywhere!

There are also many bulk sales distributors. Go to your favorite stores and fill your containers with the quantities you need.

Limit plastic

On average, 70 kilos of plastic are consumed by the French every year. Plastic has a devastating effect on flora and fauna, as it is found everywhere: in the oceans, on forest paths and hiking trails, in Arctic glaciers and on beaches. It's impossible to know the exact degradation time of plastics made from petroleum, but what we do know is that once implanted, it's impossible to get it out. Plastic therefore has a real impact on our ecosystems. That's why, whenever possible, limit non-recyclable plastic packaging or use glass containers. You can, for example, replace plastic bags with totebags or encourage bulk sales.

Eat local

Why consume products from the other side of the planet when you have quality products close to home! Give preference to local producers and short distribution channels. You won't be disappointed, not only for your health and taste, but also for your ecological conscience.
