One ingredient, however, stands out due to its distant origins and universal benefits. Shea oil, or olein, is a natural product derived from Shea Butter, which in turn comes from the shea nut of a wild West African tree: Butyrospermum Parkii.
This exceptionally robust tree can live for up to three centuries.
A rich, beige paste is extracted from the nut, which is then processed into butter and filtered at low temperatures to obtain the olein.
Shea oil has numerous restorative properties. It softens, moisturizes, and deeply nourishes the skin.
